Tara O’Connor is a DIY (do-it-yourself) photographer that currently lives in Tempe, Arizona.
Though she is obsessed with many different mediums of art, her main passion is photography. She believes firmly that art should
come from people everywhere and at all times. Beyond everyday life, there are many other influences that Tara has. As far as
specific photographers go, she is heavily inspired by Diane Arbus, Cindy Sherman and Loretta Lux. Her all- time favorite artist,
however, is a sound and installation artist, Christian Marclay.
Tara loves old school and pinup photography, but also is very happy
when she is able to shoot live bands. She rarely shoots anything besides portraits and is confident she is going to be able to
continue doing so because she will literally never run out of subjects. She additionally works her photographs into different projects
or art objects, not just prints on the wall. Often her works become performative and also at times “staged.”
Although a lot of her
projects have deep personal roots, there is a familiarity and love that almost anyone can relate to. She loves working out in the world
with people she knows and loves, and with people she has never met.
Though Tara doesn’t have a studio yet, she will one day, and
is quite content with her creative, off-the-cuff style of working for now. Tara is open to, literally, almost any projects or theme. She is available for any portrais- family, graduation, senior, wedding or otherwise. She sincerely believes that artists don’t ever stop making art
and many people are artists without even realizing it.
